Ans. NIT Trichy has great placements for branches like CSE and ECE. Most of the recruiting companies give preference to B.Tech students rather than M.Tech. But as far as Communications Engineering is concerned, you will be allowed to appear for placement drives held by semiconductor companies with B.Tech students.  There are quite a few companies that prefer Communications students over VLSI. Many students end up being placed in dream semiconductor companies. Out of say, 35 students, only 1 or 2 are not placed. The placements are definitely improving over the years. Given below are a few factors which the students are required to consider before selecting between the two colleges:- Placement: In terms of placement, the average CTC of IIT Bhubaneswar stands out to be 11.5 lakhs/annum. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, IBM, etc visit the IIT Bhubaneswar campus for placement drive. Few well-known PSU named ISRO, IOCL, and ONGC were also part of the placement in 2019. Apart from the offered jobs, the final year students are offered internships with a good amount of pay. Companies like Adobe, Amazon, Accenture, Affine Analytics, HCL, HPCL, IOCL, ISRO, Ittiam, Infosys, KIIT, Go-Jek, Goldman Sachs, and many others visited the campus for recruitment. The average domestic CTC offered in 2019 was INR 11.44 LPA. Whereas the highest domestic CTC went up to as much as 39 Lakhs per annum. PSU’s like ISRO, IOCL, NCCBM also participated in the placement to recruit students. Even though IIT Bhubaneswar is a new IIT, it offers a decent M.Tech program in ECE and has a good placement record. Ques. Can you share your M.Tech ECE interview experience at IIT, Bhubaneswar?

Ans. For admission into M.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar, students are shortlisted on the basis of their GATE score. This institute conducts a written test and an interview to select the shortlisted student for admission. Before the interview, the selected candidates need to appear in a written test, and only those who pass the test are considered eligible for the interview. There is no negative marking in the test and the subjects covered for ECE are Communications, Signals, EMT, Digital, Analog, EDC, and Maths. The pattern of the written test is as follows: 35 questions for 90 minutes. 1-20 questions which are 1 mark questions. 21-35 questions which are 2 marks questions The result of the written test is declared within one hour of the exam. And, the selected students are required to go through an interview in order to get admission. You may have the interview on the same day or the day after the written test. The interview takes about 15-20 minutes and the interview panel will have at least 4 members. Questions asked during the interview are mostly from your B Tech project, your choice of subject. If you get selected, the institute will let you know via email after a few days.Read more

Ques. Does IIT BHU have good faculty for M.Tech in ECE?

Ans. IIT BHU faculty for M.TEch ECE is good. The faculties are well experienced. Most of the faculty members have their Ph.D. The HOD of ECE department is Prof. Vishwambhar Nath Mishra. He has many publications to his name.  The faculties have received many awards. Dr. Somak Bhattacharyya who teaches Microwave Engineering, Metasurface, Terahertz, was selected for the IEEE UP Section Young Professional Star for the month of February 2021. Prof Satyabrata Jit was included on the editorial board of IETE Journal of Research. These are some of the many achievements of the faculty members of IIT BHU ECE department.Read more
