Ques. How is the Industrial and Engineering and Management course at NIT Calicut?

● Top Answer By Vishal Pandey on 26 Aug 21

Ans. One of my friends with a GATE score of 670 took admission to NIT Calicut. The academics in the field of industrial and management are good but the placements are not good enough. The faculty of NIT Calicut is exceptionally well, knowledgeable and experienced. They are way better than the faculty of NIT Trichy or ISM Dhanbad.  Placements for M.Tech courses are very bad and it is the same in all institutes. The only exception is flagship IITs and NIT Trichy. Therefore, one should opt for NIT Trichy than NIT Calicut.  Therefore, if you are interested in a job right after the course, go for NIT Trichy. If you want to study further in this field, then NIT Calicut would be a suitable choice.Read more

Ques. What is the scope after doing Quality, Reliability and Operations Research [M. Tech. (QROR)] from ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Sreeparna Hazra on 21 Sept 21

Ans. Well, I would if you are worried about job prospects and all stuff although being in ISI Kolkata then shed off your worry. Trust me; you will get a job with an average CTC matching with top B-Schools in India. Job roles such as Business Analyst/Data Scientist and many others will be offered to you. Now let me help you more in understanding this. Let’s break this into two parts – Job vs. Higher Studies. Pursuing Ph.D./Higher Studies is a tough deal if you're applying abroad. My personal perspective, in this case, will be, go for a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering domain.  That's the best option, as it will be aligned with QROR. Now, you should definitely rethink before applying for the courses like Data Science/ Machine Learning domain, or Statistics. For this, I would suggest you consider doing some projects. And if you are at the Indian Statistical Institute you will get a plethora of opportunities. So first and foremost, just be crystal clear with your future endeavors before joining any course. Once you decide, opt for the best but don’t rush. Just give your best thought and calculate all the pros and cons.Read more

● Top Answer By Rajashree Dalui on 11 Aug 21

Ans. It all actually depends on your interest. As both of these options are completely different and two different areas of interest. You must choose what you find interesting. There would not be any conflict between these two institutes over the placement stats as both of them will give good placements to their students. Here are the recent placement highlights of the institutes. Ques. How's an MTech in industrial engineering from IIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Kunal Sharma on 05 Apr 23

Ans. IIT Delhi M.Tech program in Industrial Engineering covers a wide range of topics such as statistics, probability, optimization, simulation, etc thus attracting more and more recruiters every year. Of all the fields, a major part of the batch prefers Analytics mainly because of the packages offered and the kind of companies visiting for jobs related to Analytics. Analytics companies arrive way before supply chains and other companies and most students prefer going for Analytics only.  However, the IE branch has much better scope in other Institutes like NITIE, IITB, and IITK. IIT Delhi also isn’t very lacking and its placement statistics are a testament to the same. Around 80% of the entire batch was placed this year with the major recruiters include Accenture Barclays Bank Capgemini Deloitte Flipkart Hindustan Unilever ICICI JP Morgan Chase Coursework : The coursework lacks diversity in comparison to the IEOR at Bombay or IEM at Kanpur. But the best part is the rigorous projects part of the curriculum that begins right from the first year itself. These projects are based on real-life problems in society covering fields such as healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, and public policy while using modern programming tools such as Python, Matlab, Java, C, etc. Some major courses offered in the program are Probability and statistics Linear and Non-linear optimization Industrial Engineering Systems Supply Chain Management MPC (Maintenance Planning and Control) Project Management OPC (operations Planning and Control) SMS (Stochastic Modeling and Simulation) Value Engineering and life cycle costing RAM (Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability) Considering decent placements and rigorous coursework, MTech in Industrial Engineering at IIT Delhi is not a bad idea.Read more
