Master of Arts [M.A] (Art History)
This course of study provides in-depth and specific knowledge of the visual arts and architecture, as well as new media. In addition, a differentiated application of current scientific methods is sought, which is both research-oriented and practical. This also qualifies students to start a possible doctorate. Art history, as taught in this course, primarily includes painting, graphics, sculpture and building culture from the High Middle Ages to the present day in Europe, including interdisciplinary or interdisciplinary components.

Tuition Fees
The University of Greifswald does not demand a typical tuition fee. Students have to pay 82 USD per semester as Semester contribution and 107 USD once as enrolment fee.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- A first professional qualification (usually a bachelor's degree) and proof of at least 65 credit points in the study of art history are required. In addition, proof of two foreign languages, which usually include English and Latin, is required.
- Prior to commencing studies, students will be required to provide proof of German language proficiency. The following certificates are recognized by the University of Greifswald for applications to a full degree course:
- the ‘Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber’ (DSH) at least level 2*
- the ‘Deutsche Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz’ (level 2)
- the Goethe-Zertifikat C2 from the Goethe Institute
- the ‘Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache’ (Test DaF), at least level 4 in all partial examinations*
- the certificate ‘telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule’
- a completed degree in German Studies, an assessment test with German as an examination subject.
