Friedrich Schiller University Campus

Friedrich Schiller University campus has ten schools under its affiliation. The ten schools are as follows:

  • The university has no on-campus residence available, but the Thuringian student services organization has contacts with more than 28 residence halls in Jena and helps students in finding low-cost housing.
  • Currently, rent prices for around 3,100 accommodation options range between 129 and 283 EUR.
  • The students can choose from shared rooms to private rooms which are all well-furnished to fulfill all the requirements of a student.
  • After successfully filling up the application form for housing before the deadline, students will be accommodated with housing facilities in the student hostels or halls.

  • The Studierendenwerk provides all international students with a Service Package containing the following benefits: rent for a furnished single room in halls of residence for 6 months, one meal with one drink each from Monday to Friday, semester fee, tutor program, and free entry to all events held by the Studierendenwerk. Applications must be delivered by 15 July or 15 January, respectively.

Friedrich Schiller University Admission Process

Normally students only need a valid university entrance qualification for undergraduate courses (bachelor courses, state examination courses, and diploma courses). In some cases, however, there are additional requirements in a few subjects, such as for existing proficiency tests or the fulfillment of a certain language requirement. Some courses and subjects are also subject to admission restrictions.

Application Deadline: Undergraduate applicants can start submitting their application from 15 October till 15 January for the summer semester while it is from 1 May to 15 July for the winter semester. The graduate application should be submitted from 1 December to 15 January.

  • A certified copy of the original school leaving certificate and university entrance examination (if taken) with a sworn translation (into German or English).
  • A certified copy of original degree certificate or times of study with a sworn translation (into German or English).
  • A certified copy of the original transcript of records.
  • A certified copy of your assessment test certificate (if the completed preparatory course in Germany).
  • A certified copy of proof for German proficiency.
  • CV (in tabular format).
  • A copy of the passport.

University of Jena Cost of Attendance

  • Students don’t have to pay any tuition fees.
  • A semester fee is needed to be paid by the students to meet up the expenses of the student body and administration. This semester fee includes the issuance of the semester ticket also which gives access to the free public transport facilities in Jena and in Thuringia to the students of the University.
  • In addition to this, students need to carry some cash for their monthly stay. Authority recommends a budget of 700-770 Euros per month for a sustainable life in the city.
