The iOS (formerly iPhone SDK) Software Development Kit (SDK) is a software development kit developed by Apple Inc. The kit allows mobile apps on Apple's iOS operating system to be created. When originally developing iPhone prior to its unveiling in 2007, Steve Jobs, then-CEO of Apple did not plan to allow third-party developers to create iOS native apps, instead directing them to make Safari web browser web applications.
