French is the official language of France and its overseas territories as well as Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Luxembourg, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Quebec (Canadian Province), and Swiss Districts of Voud Neufchatel, Geneva & Jura etc. French is the second-most widespread language worldwide and is an official language in 29 countries. French has around 75 million native speakers and including native speakers, there are around 338 million people that are able to speak it. A French-speaking person or nation may be referred to as Francophone.
