IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an English proficiency test that is globally recognized and jointly owned by British Council and IDP Australia. The test can be taken offline as well as online. It uses 9 bands – scale to identify the levels of English proficiency of the test takers, from non-user to expert users. IELTS is jointly owned by IDP: IELTS Australia, British Council and Cambridge English Language Assessment.
