The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), founded in 1945, is a UK royal charter awarded health and safety organization committed to the vision of creating a safer and healthier world of work. Being an independent and not-for-profit organization, it offers a vast repertoire of health and safety qualifications for a wide range of people irrespective of their area of work, position, or expertise. It delivers training for its courses through a global network of licensed training providers like NIST and attracts around 1,79,000 candidates each year worldwide through its engaging and interactive training materials. Besides safety qualifications, IOSH claims the position of one and only organization across the world to offer Chartered membership (Affiliate Member, Associate Member, Technical Member, Graduate member) to health and safety practitioners, where the status of membership helps the practitioners to achieve the highest professional standards. IOSH developed a scheme called Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for knowledge enhancement and identifying skill gaps. This scheme is made compulsory to all its chartered members for a structured career path and to retain the professional status.
