Established in 1931, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) is one of largest and globally recognized universities known for its excellent research and academic disciplines to study in Malaysia. COVID Update
The government of Malaysia has reopened routes for all international students except those from the United Kingdom. International students have to follow a set of procedures set by the Malaysian government before and upon arrival. After arriving at the university international students are required to fill up the 'UPM International Student Update on Quarantine Placement upon Arrival' form once they have checked in at the Quarantine Centre. All students are required to comply with the SOPs set by the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health Malaysia as well as all other regulations prescribed by UPM.

Universiti Putra Malaysia International Students Admission
Around 4,524 International students are enrolled at UPM. There are two admission intakes held in a year at UPM, students can apply to any of them. The admission process involves filling up the online application form, submitting the required documents, and paying the application fees. International students, whose native language is not English, are required to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent scores as their English proficiency proof.

International Students Visa Process
An essential requirement for international applicants is visa to study in Malaysia. Students can apply for a VISA approval letter by creating an account on EMGS. Login to the account, fill in the required information, upload the required documents, pay the application fee and submit the application. Students can track their application status through the EMGS system. It can take around 30-60 days to process the VAL.

UPM offers postgraduate programs through its school of graduate studies. It offers programs in more than 256 fields of study. The general admission procedure is the same. There are also some program-specific requirements for PG courses.

Academic requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 CGPA out of 4 or equivalent.
- Some courses also accept a Bachelor’s degree in the related field with a minimum of 2.75 CGPA.
- A Masters's degree in Research requires applicants to have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 CGPA out of 4.

- Referee's Details: previous supervisor or academic advisor or current employer.
- Key-in their details into the system and no referral letter is required to attach or send to UPM.

Students can track their application progress by logging into their accounts at the academic division.
If the applicant meets the eligibility criteria adequately and has submitted the application successfully, then they will receive a letter of acceptance from the university. They need to reply after receiving the letter otherwise the admission might be considered null and void.
