AICTE Announces Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech, BE Admission through Lateral Entry

New Delhi: All India Council for Technical Education has announced the eligibility criteria to apply for B.Tech, BE Course admission process through lateral entry to 2nd year for session 2022. 

Candidates who wish to seek lateral entry to the engineering program such as B.Tech and BE are required to meet the criteria released by the council. Those who do not meet the qualifications will not be selected for admission. 

Earlier, AICTE has permitted students to apply for the BE or B.Tech Admission 2022 process to other branches of the engineering programs through lateral entry. The decision was made after receiving several requests to include engineering programs under lateral entry admission.

B.Tech, BE Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria for Lateral Entry

As per the latest notice released by AICTE, candidates who wish to apply for B.Tech or BE program admission process under the engineering and technology domain are required to meet the below eligibility criteria: 

• Class 12th qualifications with Mathematics as a subject. 
• A minimum of 3-years or 2 years (Lateral Entry) Diploma Examination.
• At least 45% marks in any branch of Engineering and Technology in the Diploma exam. 
• At least 40% marks in diploma exam (for reserved category candidates).
• OR B.Sc Degree with at least 45% marks from UGC-approved university or college. 
• For reserved category candidates, at least 40% marks in B.Sc is required. 

In addition, the All India Council for Technical Education has also directed its approved institutes and colleges to offer various courses in the field of mathematics, physics, engineering drawing, and other domains.
