Allahabad University Admission 2020: Minimum Marks Obligation Removed, Cutoff Expected to go high this year

At the same time, due to the removal of negative marking in entrance tests, the cutoffs of all affiliated colleges is expected to go high this year. This decision came amid Covid-19 pandemic to lessen the pressure of admission on students.

Professor Prashant Agarwal, entrance examination director mentioned that the minimum marks obligation in admission resulted in seat vacancy of various courses especially professional courses. As a result, Allahabad University has decided to remove the minimum marks obligation required in admission eligibility. 

It should be noted that it was mandatory to have 30% marks for general category candidates and 27% marks for OBC category candidates for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There is no minimum set mark required for SC/ST candidates. This decision was taken in the Academic Council meeting held on April 11, 2017 by the former Vice Chairman.

Candidates securing marks less than this will not be able to qualify for admission in Allahabad University. 

The entrance examination for admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate schools have concluded on October 5 and the result is expected to be declared soon. The admission is expected to commence from October 14, 2020.
