Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Launches Centre of Geospatial Excellence In Collaboration With Esri India

January 7, 2021: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Esri India, the market leader in Geospatial Information Systems.They aim to form a Centre of Geospatial Excellence on Spatial Analysis and Modeling with enthusiastic amenities for research, development and testing. 

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the existing curriculum and learning material as well as develop the new educational tactics for effective teaching and learning of sustainability initiatives using spatial geoinformatics.

The Centre of Geospatial Excellence (CoGE) will promote and foster collaboration on the development of actual skills and technical knowledge among academicians, aspirants and the business around geospatial know-hows and most recent toolkits like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Geospatial Big Data Analytics. 

This will be done through conducting effective training sessions, workshops, certificate and diploma courses mainly about Geospatial Technology Application and its areas to strengthen multi-hazard risk reduction and community resilience.

Maneesha Sudheer, Dean of International Programs and UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development and Innovation, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has said that this firm will target at boosting research and improving ability mainly in Geoinformatics, Spatial Analytics and Modelling.

He also stated that the collaborative initiatives will work towards sustainable development to address quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), sustainable communities (SDG 11) and climate action (SDG 13) by attracting faculty, bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. students.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has bagged 4th place in the list of higher education institutes in the Best Overall University in India category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) list 2020.
