The tweet reads as, “Strengthening education infrastructure has been a top priority for Assam Govt. Glad to have laid foundation stone for a Government Law College, Jorhat at Kaliapani. The Rs 14.74 cr institution will be completed in 2 years. Happy to share that we shall have 9 more Law Colleges.”

The Assam government has planned to introduce the law colleges at various places including North Lakhimpur, Dhubri, Diohu, Silchar, Tezpur, Nalbari, Rangia, and Nagaon. Biswa said that all the institutions will be well-equipped with modern infrastructural facilities.

Now, keeping in mind the National Education Policy 2020, the Assam government has planned to implement the provisions of the NEP 2020 across the state.

With the implementation of the policy, there will be a paradigm shift in the delivery of quality education services. Moreover, 3,000 high schools across Assam will be upgraded to senior secondary schools by the academic year 2022, as a part of NEP 2020, he added.

In addition, the state government has decided to increase the number of universities in the state and it has planned a goal to introduce one college in every development block to spread higher education among all sections of the youth in the state. With a budgetary outlay of INR 14.74 crore, the Jorhat Government Law College will be constructed and the construction has been scheduled to complete within 24 months.
