New Delhi: BHU has launched a first-of-its-kind postgraduate program, MA in Hindu Studies. The program will be offered to students in accordance with National Education Policy, 2020.

The newly launched program of Banaras Hindu University was inaugurated by Rector Prof. V. K. Shukla through hybrid mode. During the event, he said that MA in Hindu Studies is the first such course in India which is offered by any university.

With the launch of the BHU Course 2022, the university has admitted a total of 45 students for the first batch. Out of the total enrolled students, one foreign student has registered for the program.

MA in Hindu Studies will be conducted by Bharat Adhyayan Kendra in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of Sanskrit, and Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archeology.

While talking about the inauguration of MA in Hindu Studies, Rector Prof. V. K. Shukla said that the course will bring out an innovation that is the need of the hour. The course will further introduce students to Hindu Dharma and its various unknown aspects. 

Adding to the statement, Dr. Vijay Shankar Shukla, Director, Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts said, there is a need for courses in the field of Hindu Studies where students can learn about the Hindu Dharma and educate themselves in the domain.

The BHU MA Program 2022 is chaired by Prof. Kamlesh Dutt Tripathi, Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha, and Centenary Chair Professor, Bharat Adhyayan Kendra. 

BHU faculty members underlined the values of Hindu Dharma and how it can not be separated from being constantly logical and scientific. Furthermore, Prof. Malini Awasthi, Centenary Chair Professor, Bharat Adhyayan Kendra motivated students to preserve the Sanatana Parampara. 

During the event, Centenary Chair Professor Prof. Rakesh Upadhyaya said the course will play an important role in building Sanatana life values in students. In the end, the inauguration event concluded with the National Anthem.
