BHU Begins New Museology Department; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has launched a new museology department to meet the rising demand for professionals, academicians and experts in the field of museology, which is an interdisciplinary professional program. Now the university has 22 departments in the Faculty of Arts including the Museology Department.

BHU earlier had museology as a subject under the ancient history, culture and archaeology department in the Faculty of Arts. On the approval from the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, the university has declared the launch of the museology department.

According to BHU, "India has over 1000 museums with several new museums coming up too. This underlines the need of more able professionals in the area of Museology. The new department in BHU is poised to play an important role in this regard,"

BHU now has 22 departments in the Faculty of Arts including the Museology Department. Here are the details:

• BHU has launched a new museology department to meet the rising demand for professionals, academicians and experts in the field of museology, which is an interdisciplinary professional program. 
• BHU will offer postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral programmes in museology. 
• About 15 seats are there for admission to the museology postgraduate program including two paid seats. 

Usha Rani Tiwari, professor in museology at BHU says that the discipline helps learners in becoming museum directors, conservators, and assistant professors among other opportunities. She is of the opinion that the new museology department will add to the growth and glory of Banaras Hindu University.
