Maharashtra Bar Council has been made a party to a PIL filed by a GLC law college student by the High Court of Bombay.
The law college student brings out the difference in stands of Mumbai University, UGC, and Bar Council of India in conducting examinations for intermediate students.
The petitioner stated that earlier, the UGC has announced that exams will be conducted for intermediate students too within a month of reopening of the college.

The high court bench headed by Justice Amjad Sayad asked for the stands of Mumbai University and adjourned the case to November.
Rui Rodrigues, the counsel of the University submitted a notice issued by the university which allowed the relaxation of ATKT rules.
For intermediate students, the earlier semester marks will be considered as per the evaluation scheme devised.
The government pleader Purnima Kantharia mentioned that the examination for final year students has already been conducted.

A fourth year student Samarvir Singh stated filed a PIL seeking an order to devise the announcement of a formula to pass students for the academic year 2019 - 2020 of Mumbai University based on internet assessment marks because of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The PIL also sought an order to direct BCI 'to dispense with its May 27 guidelines to conduct exams for intermediate year students’’ after the academic year starts.
A new affidavit was filed by Singh and it stated a recent Supreme Court judgment where the Supreme Court observed that there is a rational and intelligible difference between other students and final year students.

Singh stated that the UGC's decision to promote the intermediate year students on the basis of past performance without conducting the exam.
"Since the SC has upheld the UGC guidelines, the BCI guidelines ought to be quashed," he said.
Mumbai University issued guidelines to promote intermediate year students on the basis of previous performance on May 22, 2020, in accordance with UGC guidelines of April 29, 2020.
