What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“A great and valuable experience throughout”
Teaching is gratifying on both personal and professional fronts. On a professional front, by being a teacher I am able to contribute to the nation building process with successful graduation of every student. I gain in keeping abreast with the latest developments in my professional domain as well. Also, with my role in administration, I am able to give shape to visions and concepts that carry physiotherapy forward and create difference in people’s lives. On a personal front, the energy and enthusiasm of the youth invigorates me. The love and affection of the students and colleagues is itself a strong motivation.
What is your philosophy of leadership?
“Multi-fold responsibilities and clear understanding”
Leadership is multifaceted. It is easier to get at the top than to stay at the top. Leadership comes with a lot of responsibilities, one has to fulfill the aspirations and expectations of staff and students in the institution. A leader has to carry one and all associated with him/her forward without malice. He/She has to be large hearted and compassionate and a good planner with a streak of clairvoyance, if I may say. Most importantly, a leader should be steadfast in decision making. I follow a very democratic path in my role as a principal. I give the latitude to my staff to broaden their horizons and be creative in the process of patient care and teaching. The growth and satisfaction of staff is key to developing trust, camaraderie and development.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practice of industry?
“Industrial alignment with practical laboratory set-up”
The curriculum for Bachelor and Master’s courses in Physiotherapy are perhaps one of the most elaborate ones with aligned OPD labs and hands-on practical sessions. Besides this, the college runs a 4-I program i.e. Industry Institute Integration Initiative in which the top experts from medical, surgical and physiotherapy fields are invited to speak on a topic of their specialization.
What should be your institute’s priority over the next ten years?
“Multidisciplinary research and services to ground public”
In the coming years, we aspire to develop into a vibrant centre for cross- disciplinary research in the field of Physiotherapy studies. We are working to develop more areas and labs for patient care, so that the scope and practice of Physiotherapy is demonstrated to students and the public at large, and to encourage research. Also, we strive to develop specialized and advanced patient services that residents of Jalandhar seek in metropolitan cities. We shall be offering a wider variety of Physiotherapy services to the locals as well as people from nearby states.
What do you want people to know about your institute that they may not?
