Dr. Sarika Jindal has been working as the Principal of Astral Institute Of Technology and Research, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She has done M.Com, MBA and PhD as part of her academics and she is also a NET qualified with 15 years of experience in the education industry. She started her career as an Assistant Professor and have worked as Principal and Senior Professor for leading colleges.

What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

"My passion of teaching young minds and the happiness and satisfaction I receive in return"

It has been a great journey of 15 years. I have seen many changes in the education sector, some of them were good and some were bad others were bad as well, but overall it’s been a rewarding journey so far. And the thing which keeps me connected with the education sector is my passion and urge to educate the youths of our society and bring a positive change in other's lives. And since I have been associated with the Astral Institute for the past 10 months, it's been a good experience here also with the constant support of all our faculties and students.


Being the Principal of Astral Institute, what is your philosophy of leadership?

"A true leader knows how to change weaknesses of its team members into their strengths"

My philosophy of leadership is very simple and that is I treat every student equally because I know each of them is unique and has a different set of qualities. So, being a faculty I first try to find out their strengths and weaknesses and then provide them with the best opportunities to convert those weaknesses into strength. By doing so I ensure that every student can perform to the best of their abilities.


How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your institute?

"By providing best quality education and learning ambiance to our students"

In today’s world, just being good at academics is not enough. So, at Astral Institute we not only provide best quality theoretical knowledge to students but also provide them appropriate personality development training and soft skills training as and when required. In addition to this, we design our curriculum as per industry latest industry demands and keep updating it regularly after rigorous consultation with industry experts. 


How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industry?

"It is backed by rigorous training programs, industrial interactions and guest sessions"

We are having the best team of faculties who all are highly educated and extensively experienced, and with their support it becomes easy for us to manage and update our curriculum. We conduct events like guest lectures, industrial visits and industry connect sessions to give our students an overview of how industry actually works and what are the expectations of industry from them.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"We promote the culture of equality here and financial assistance is also available for needy students"

We take admissions of students coming from every corner of society and because we promote equality, so any kind of inequality or inappropriate behaviour is strictly prohibited in our college. And We also offer scholarships to meritorious students and to those students as well who come from economically weak backgrounds. 


What are your roles and responsibilities for the University and students?

"To maintain a cordial ambiance in college by fixing my team queries and offering best services to students"

I try to maintain a very friendly environment in the college and also encourage my students to be curious about the topics they read. And when it comes to selecting the best for students, I always hire the best faculties and facilities for them. Apart from this I am also responsible for monitoring the academic functions, various procedures and to develop a cordial learning environment for students.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"To increase our reach among potential future students by upgrading our programs and services"

Our vision should be to enhance the education quality of our institute in line with today's world changing needs and we should also work to expand our reach among students through every aspect whether it is education, events, placement and professional studies.


What do you see as the greatest strengths of your institute? 

"The environment and education we offer to our students"

We have established an amazing infrastructure for students which includes a well-equipped lab, industry-based learning, eminent faculties, sports facilities together with a green campus, hence in my opinion, the kind of environment and facilities we provide to students to grow and nurture makes us unique and strong at the same time.


What are some of the biggest challenges you see for the Astral Institute specifically?

"Unavailability of public transportation system is a major issue for us"

We have faced hurdles at every stage but the point which I would like to specifically highlight is that for us the only big issue is unavailability of public transport as we are situated in the outskirts of the city. However, we do provide bus facilities to students and staff members so that they can reach the institute on time.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Live your life sincerely but don't forget to enjoy it as well"

I would like to advise my students to be sincere and try to learn something each day. But don't forget to live your life while fulfilling your goals, and for this maintain a proper balance between your studies and college life. Lastly, don't use social media unnecessarily and only use them when required.
