Dr. Gopal Rai is the Principal of Guru Ramdas Khalsa Institute of Science & Technology - [GRKIST] Jabalpur. He desires to continuously upgrade his professional attitude and excel in the pharmaceutical arena. He holds work experience of more than a decade. He has a great number of research publications and dissertations.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector? 

“Passion to learn and share what I learn to craft our country a better place to live in”

 My deep frantic passion for education always kept me desirous to keep serving on and on. Even during my education tenure, I decided to adopt challenges as opportunities, I believe education is the noblest profession in the world, and building/shaping up new careers is a most challenging task. Accordingly accepting challenges is my passion.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style? 

“Participative leadership is my way of leadership to lead our institute to a better decision making”

With the healthy and beautiful atmosphere it has the leadership I believe works the best in my institute is participative leadership. Participative leadership provides a plethora of opportunities and while working I have learned how various ideas can make the better decision making. Staff is a building block of every institute, and as a leader, in GRKIST PY I execute things with a vision to motivate and elevate my staff members. Along with this being, emotionally attached with students always accelerated me to pursue things in a better way, that’s my utter fundamental philosophy of leadership.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“Different personal and digital strategies and promotion activities to keep the demands of college in check”

 Keeping current competition in view, I try to adopt the best marketing tactics on grounds of segmentation and promotion. 

  • Identifying the target population and familiarizing them with the potentials of schools is the best practice,
  • I believe and for the same social media platforms
  • Person to person counseling, 
  • Online video promotions are key tools.
  • We are on best as per all guidelines from central and state educational authorities, as for same I believe it’s the best way to work as per norms and guidelines, as this keeps institute in tune.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute/ university/ school? 

” Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”

 Yes, I accept that the Indian education system is different from other foreign countries but I believe that’s limited to fabricated syllabi and examination patterns only. Since learning is the best thing in the world and fortunately most beautiful thing is that it’s communal, no matter from wherever we belong, we are humans first and developed a habit of quotidian learning. We run technical courses, consisting of research and practical oriented subjects, we train students to learn things practically inside a laboratory rather than aggravating in other distracting ways.

How does the curriculum of Guru Ramdas Khalsa Institute of Science & Technology Jabalpur ensure the best practice of industry?

“The motto of Laboratory to market for experiential success is the key for being industry ready” 

 Industry always demands and pursuits for exceptional talent i.e. candidates having potential skills on grounds of practical knowledge, keeping same, we have developed and fabricated pilot-scale laboratories, where students gain industry level experience.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students are? 

‘The structure of well-shaped academia, circular, monitoring students for completing the duty under my role” 

I have a position to hold as a Principal that assorts me with several roles and responsibilities to be followed. I work with the motive to develop standardized curricula, assess teaching methods, monitor student achievement, encourage parent involvement, revise policies and procedures, hire and evaluate staff, and oversee facilities.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

” The goal is to increase the rigor and reach global standards in every discipline”

 For an Institute to be worthy of its name, it should have a wide-ranged mix of disciplines. Through our understanding of the importance of the relationship between industry and academia, we have developed a potential placement cell, and have tie-ups with profound pharmacy industries, presenting virtuous placement of students round the year in various departments of pharma industries. 

What are your learning from the pandemic and how are you dealing with the situation? 

“Hard times will go after making you learn what is the outcome of the situation”

Pandemic has been of great damage to us emotionally, financially, and economically. This situation has shown us that we are all the same regardless of our religion, culture, customs, whether we are poor or rich. The virus simply does not choose. We have tried to make it work now wt great facilities on digital education and media learning. During this chaos, while many of us in a panic, it showed us the weight of humanity. It reminded us of who we are. Everything can end tomorrow. Focus on what is important to us. When all this is over, Earth will continue to spin, and life will flow again. The question is whether by then we will have learned our lesson. Let us be mindful of our Earth and it will be kind to us.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students? 

“Strive and drive to achieve the objective no matter what it takes”

The most important suggestion I want to give is about decision making. It is undoubtedly the most crucial aspect of a student’s life. I insist students make decisions, not by their emotional-senses, but their cognitive-senses. Enquire experts, discuss with peers, and listen to what their 

parents have to say, but ultimately decide by and for themselves for a career path that suits them the best.
