Did you avail of the benefit of any reservation?

Divyansh Rana: “General (No reservation)”

Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Divyansh Rana: “It was a Group Discussion of 10 candidates in each group. Yes, everyone was given a chance to speak. Those who had missed were given an opportunity at the end. It was an aggressive discussion since everyone had valid points for and against the topic. 2 moderators were present to overlook the discusson.”

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Divyansh Rana: "The topic was somewhat around the education system in India; Is it better than the foreign education system?”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Divyansh Rana: “1. The foreign education system is better than India.

2. There are more opportunities for students who are not academically sound.

3. Co-curricular activities play a major role in deciding the future of the students.

4. Unorthodox courses are the origin of the west, which was later accepted by India.

5. Faculties and parents support the education choices of the students.”

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Divyansh Rana: “1.There was 1 panel.

2. 3 members in each panel. 2 alumni and 1 faculty.

3. The interview was offline (Face to face).

4. Interview duration: 30-35 minutes.

5. Yes, it was a stress interview.

6. Pro tip: Since it was a stress interview, they were grilling us on our understanding of the PGDM program, and how it is different from a MBA program. We should always be patient, not loose our temper, and understand the question correctly. In a state of a panic or rapid questions, it is always better to take a deep breath and then answer rather than the first thing that pops up in the mind.”

Mention at least 5 interview questions that were asked to you and your responses to each of them.

Divyansh Rana: “1. Tell us something about yourself? My name is Divyansh, and I belong to Dehradun. I have done my schooling from Grace Academy and Kendriya Vidalaya. For graduation, I decided to pursue engineering from Uttranchal Institute of Technology, and now want to complete my higher studies.

2. Why proceed with PGDM, and not M.Tech? When I had opted for engineering I was at a very naive stage and was not able to give it much thought. But once I started my graduation, I understood that technology is not my cup of team, and I was more inclined toward management. Hence, I want to proceed with PGDM.

3. Will you be able to cope with the stress of the PGDM program? Yes, I will definitely give my best to keep up with the peers and cope with the stress. Having no extensive knowledge of management I will definitely be on the back-foot, but I am confident of my skills.

4. What are your long term goals? I am clear with the fact that I will be proceeding with marketing as my major. For a long term goal, I would like to see myself working with a start-up or a growing organization where I can use all the skills learnt during the program.

5. Why start-up? Don't you want to work with a MNC? I am more inclined toward a start-up because of the culture, and the multiple opportunities and challenges that are set forth.”

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Divyansh Rana: “1. The batch strength was less (60 students) at that time, and the chances of getting an internship and placement were better.

2. The faculty was mostly visiting faculty, and industry experts who can always impart practical knowledge more than theory.

3. The college was student run, and there were student committees for all the activities like placements, admin, events etc. This gave a practical and on the ground exposure of what life would be after the program. It helped inculcate confidence and a sense of teamwork plus leadership.”

What was the reason for you not converting to other colleges?

Divyansh Rana: “There were issues with the Group Discussion mainly where I got really expressive and it turned into heated arguments. In some colleges my educational background did not meet the expectations. Crumbling under the pressure of stress interviews was also another reason.”
