Dr. Ramakant Kulkarni has been working as the Director of Academics at Chetan Business School, Hubli, Karnataka. Prior to CBS, he has worked for a reputed institution for 8 years straight. And being the Director, he is responsible for administration, admission, statutory compliances, media interaction and institution building of Chetan Business School. He has an amazing corporate experience as the Finance Manager of Kirloskar Group for a period of 18 years.

This is what keeps me associated with the education sector.

Being the Director of Chetan Business School, what is your philosophy of leadership?

"I believe true leadership is all about giving equal opportunities to everyone to grow"

I firmly believe that even though someone is a leader by position, they need to sometimes manage people having different mindset and experts of their respective areas. So my approach is that I give full autonomy to my team, be it students or faculty members, to experiment with their ideas to find innovative solutions for problems we face in ensuring best academic practices. Also I ensure an open and trustworthy communication environment for everyone so that they can provide their suggestions without any hesitation and help themselves and our institute to grow.

How do you strategize the key programs for the marketing and administration of your institution?

"By offering best education, research oriented ambiance and industrial exposure to students"

We are offering a full time 2-year employment oriented MBA course to our students and the internal and external branding of our college are accomplished using different methods by our experts team. And because we believe our students are our true ambassadors as no one knows us better than them, so providing them with the finest quality education, extracurricular activities and industrial exposure does the rest of the work. Hence success stories of our students and Alumni are our best tools to enhance our presence among future students.

How does the curriculum of Chetan Business School ensure the best practices of industry?

We follow the curriculum designed and updated by the Karnataka University to which we are affiliated to. What are your roles and responsibilities for the Institute and students?

Being the Director of Academics, my main responsibility is to take care of students' academic needs and ensure they get the best facilities and education in our college. Apart from this, ensuring their future preparedness by providing them necessary training programs, guidance and support and also by upgrading my own knowledge also comes under the ambiance of my responsibilities. 

What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"Effective and timely implementation of National Education Policy will be our objective"

Effective implementation of National Education Policy and tackling all the challenges brought by it during implementation will be our objective in upcoming years and we would also focus on ensuring our students make the best out of it.

What biggest challenges do you see for your college specifically?

"Inculcating practices of National Education Policy in our curriculum is biggest issue in front of us"

After the introduction of the National Education Policy, education will become portable. So, the greatest hurdle in front of us would be holding the students back for the full duration of course with one institute. Also, it would require a tremendous amount of effort on our part to do continuous improvement in curriculum and education practices as per industry demands.
