Mr. Vinod Kumar is the Head of the Department at Nalanda College, Bihar Sharif. He has an industrial experience of 15 years and 13 years of teaching experience. He obtained his Ph.D. from Magadh University. Having a rich experience in the education domain, he brings with him vast learning. His ideology is to uplift the standard of education at his institution. Read what he has to say in his interview. 

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Carrying the passion to teach and sharing my knowledge”

When I first started, there were very few people in the education institutes who had market or industry experience so I wanted to share my knowledge and learnings with the students that I learned in those 15 years in the industry and market. My love for teaching and the education sector keeps me connected with the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style? 

“Passing on my experience to the students”

If I talk about my leadership philosophy, I believe in focusing on solutions as a leader or a candidate, not on the type of challenges we face. We all encounter challenges, but how we think about those challenges or tackle them will play a significant role in our success. So this is what I want my students to learn through my experience and work to get success in their life. I want them not to focus on challenges; instead, they should see a new opportunity to create unique solutions. 

“As the Head of the Department, I need to ensure that my students are getting what they want to expand their knowledge. I always try my best to provide more industry knowledge to the students and assure the management's quality.”

What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years? 

“Giving a rest to the conventional ways of learning”

For the next ten years, the college and the management will focus on bringing changes from the traditional approach to a practical approach. Besides that, we will plan for Infrastructure development according to the industry standards. Our goal is to create more and more opportunities for students and promote research-based learning.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students? 

“Balance your work life and stay well mentally”

My advice to the students would be:

  • Focus on goal achieving activities • Be emotionally strong • Have a good work-life 

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute/ university? 

“An environment where students can be themselves and get the best of themselves”

To establish a healthy relationship and environment in our institute, we have created an open culture and a student-friendly environment. We all work as a team. We keep get-together for the students and faculty. We organize many programs, competitions, and seminars where students participate and keep them busy and enjoy all these events.
