Dr. Veerana DK is a Director in the IEMS B School, Hubli, Karnataka. He did Bachelors and Masters from B.V.B.College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi. He also did another degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Systems. Later, he obtained Doctorate in the field of Total Quality Management from Anna University, Chennai. Dr. Veerana DK is also the Honorary Secretary, Institution of Engineers (India), Belagavi Local Center, Belagavi. He is currently involved in AICTE text book committee as a Lead Author for First Year Engineering Text book on “Workshop/Manufacturing Practices”. Moreover, he is coordinating the Mechanical Engineering Sciences for Technical Dictionary in Kannada Regional Language by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka. He is a life member for various national and international professional bodies namely Technical Institute for Engineers (TIE), Society of Automotive Engineers India, Fellow Institute of Engineers (India), Tribology Society of India, and more. He has more than 23 years of teaching and 10 years of research experience. Dr.Veeranna published 42 Research papers in renowned International, National Journals and Conference Proceedings. His research work is globally recognised and cited in 22 publications all over the world. He received many awards and recognitions, namely “Excellence award-2021” from Institute of Engineers, Rajasthan State Center, Jaipur, “Best Performer and Best Supporting College” LEAD cell, from Deshpande Foundation, Hubballi, and “Project of the Year-2013-2014” from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Passion for teaching and imparting quality education connects me with the education sector”

I am attracted towards the commitment towards education and love towards the students. My passion for teaching and learning connects me with the education sector. I always connected to my roots and the responsibility of imparting quality education and it keeps me motivated.

What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style in IEMS B School, Hubli?

“Support the team always and make a commitment towards our duty is my leadership philosophy”

A leader should take the responsibility and lead by example. It is the duty of a leader to be a part of the team and always support the team members in required time. According to me, being a leader is a commitment and a responsibility one should showcase by giving their best. I followed this philosophy of leadership in my life. 

How does the curriculum of IEMS B School ensure the best practice of industry?

“Additional courses as per industry requirements and internships are provided to students”

We follow the curriculum as per university guidelines. Students get additional learning courses to meet the industry requirements of the industry from the campus. The need of the industry in a rapidly changing environment is understood by our faculties and students by regular interactions with industry experts. We improve the quality of education continuously and ensure a practical teaching method for pupils.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities are to the University and students?

“Overall development of campus and students is my primary responsibility”

My primary role is to look after the overall development of the institution, faculties and the students. We all grow together as a strong team. It's my responsibility to provide all the possible support as per industry standards for pupils. We try to focus on the development of the students as good human beings.

I advise students to live more in the real world instead of being dependent on their social presence. Youth should be aware of the huge responsibility towards nation building.
