Dr Salil Pawah is the Professor and Head in the Department of Prosthodontics at Sudha Rustagi College of dental sciences and Research, Faridabad, Haryana. With 21 years of teaching experience as well as clinical experience, he is experienced in both fields. He has been heading this department since 2012 and has worked relentlessly for its growth. He has held the post of General Secretary, Indian Dental Association, Faridabad for 2 years and is a member of Indian Prosthodontic Society. He has around 50 publications in national and international journals to his credit.

What are your responsibilities towards the students of this college?

“Providing sound knowledge, teaching the latest techniques, and evaluating clinical competency"

Being the HOD of the Department of Prosthodontics, I have the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Mentoring and educating undergraduate students to be competent in the treatment and management of patients.
  • Clinical: Teaching in prostho clinics, seeing patients, working with Under Graduate and Post Graduate students, and working collaboratively with other faculty and staff to increase clinical productivity.
  • Research: Guiding the post graduate students in their dissertation work and participating in various departmental research programmes.

How do you establish a healthy relationship with students and fellow faculty members?

“The process of teaching and learning is enhanced by creating a positive environment”

Healthy relationships are established by considering students’ opinions and feedback to have a positive impact on students’ performance. Also, by responding to Faculty’s inputs in the smooth functioning and betterment of the department.

My vision has been to impart top-quality education to UG’s and PG’s and prepare the students to be dentists and prosthodontists. Additionally, empowering students with proper scientific and ethical values thus resulting in dental health care of the highest quality for the patients.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

I would advise my students to always focus on skill enhancement and have a patient-oriented approach in clinical practice. Along with this, hardwork and dedication are the building blocks of success, hence must be incorporated into your life.
