Calcutta University PhD Admission 2022 Open; Last Date to Apply is July 19

New Delhi: Calcutta University has begun the application process for its PhD program in Pure Maths for the academic year 2022-23. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @www.caluniv.ac.in by July 19, 2022

Calcutta University offers a gamut of UG, PG, and PhD level courses in various specialisations. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme in Pure Maths can submit their applications till July 19, 2022. 

All the eligible candidates will have to appear for an entrance exam (Research Eligibility Test) conducted by the university and those who qualify the RET will have to attend the interview process for final selection.

CU PhD Admission 2022: Dates

The PhD course in pure maths will preferably focus in the areas of Graph Theory, Complex Analysis, Rings of Continuous Functions and Differential Geometry. The university has planned to intake a total of 10 students for the PhD programme. 

CU PhD Admission 2022: Highlights 

The Research Eligibility Test (RET) is scheduled to be held on July 26, 2022 (12:00 noon. - 2:00 p.m. ), and the shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the interview on August 3, 4, and 5, 2022 from 11:30 am onwards. 

CU PhD Admission 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admissions into the PhD program will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria mentioned below. 

• Candidates must hold a master’s degree in the respective subjects, from University of Calcutta or other recognized universities considered equivalent with a minimum 55% marks in qualification examination. 

CU PhD Admission 2022: Selection Process

• Candidate's admission to the PhD programme will be based on the RET (50 marks) and Interview (50 marks) conducted by CU. 
• Candidates who have cleared UGC/CSIR/ (JRF)/ NET /SET/ SLET/ valid GATE/Teacher Fellowship/Inspire Fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phi l examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test; however, they are to appear for the interview.
• Qualifying RET does neither ensure any research fellowship nor guarantee registration for the Ph. D. degree. 
• The university will upload merit list on the basis of entrance exam
• Final merit list will be based on the written entrance examination, interview, research proposal and short essay. 
• Qualified candidates will have to appear for document verification and only after the payment of programme fee, the admissions will be confirmed. 

CU PhD Admission 2022: How to Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of Calcutta University @www.caluniv.ac.in.

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee of INR 100 (online) through SBI Collect https://www.onlinesbi.com/sbicollect and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: The filled in form along with photocopies of all self attested supporting documents & SBI payment receipt are to be submitted at the departmental office between 12 noon and 3:00 p.m. on all working days. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.
