Centre extends deadline for Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship to January 17


New Delhi: The Central Sector Scholarship Program is available to college and university students. The final date to submit an application for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students offered by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has been moved from December 31, 2022, to January 17, according to VP Yadav, the chairperson of the Board of Secondary Education, Haryana (BSEH). Candidates may submit their applications through scholarships.gov.in.

Students who are eligible to apply for this scholarship and those who want to apply for renewal can do so by following the guidelines established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, according to Yadav and BSEH secretary Krishna Kumar.

according to the program's rules, which are posted on scholarships.gov.in. A total of 82,000 new scholarships are offered each year for professional courses as well as graduate and postgraduate studies in colleges and universities.

After separating the portion of CBSE and ICSE based on the number of students graduating from various boards across the nation, the total number of scholarships are distributed among the state education boards depending on the population of the state in the age group of 18 to 25 years. 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female students.

Eligibility for the Central Sector Scholarship Program for College and University Students

  • Students who achieved a grade in class 12 that is comparable to or higher than the 80th percentile of successful candidates in the appropriate stream from the respective board of examinations
  • Those enrolled in degree- or diploma-seeking courses.
  • Students enrolled in programmes at colleges approved by the AICTE or the relevant regulatory organisations
  • Students who do not have access to any other financial aid or fee waivers
  • Students whose parents' or family's annual gross income is up to Rs. 4.5 lakh
  • Students who switch colleges may keep their scholarships as long as the course and institute have an active AISHE code.
  • Students who, for whatever reason, miss the deadline to apply for scholarship renewal may still submit an application for the following year.
  • The student must maintain a 75 percent attendance rate and earn at least 50% on the annual exam in order for the scholarship to be renewed.
  • Any allegation of indiscipline, ragging, or illegal behaviour will result in scholarship forfeiture.

Scholarships under the Central Sector Scholarship Program for College and University Students

For the first three years of college, students will receive a scholarship worth Rs 12,000 per year at the graduation level, and Rs 20,000 per year at the postgraduate level. The fourth and fifth years of a five-year education would be awarded to students with Rs 20,000.
