CISCE Ask States to Allow School Re-opening For Class 10, 12 from January 4; Check Details Here

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has asked the state governments to allow partial re-opening of schools for class 10 and 12. CISCE made the request to safeguard the interest of students preparing for board exams.

Owing to the covid-19 pandemic, schools of CISCE and other boards in the country were closed to keep the virus in check. This led to the shifting of classes to the online medium, which had lower learning outcomes. Further many students were unable to avail of the benefit of online classes.

This was especially a big problem for those appearing in their board exams. Thus, the CISCE has requested the Chief Ministers of the various states of the country to allow schools to re-open from January 4.

Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE said in a press release that physical classes for students of grades 10 and 12 are imperative. This was because at the school, students would be able to do practical work and clear their doubts which was not viable through online classes.

He further said that direct interaction with their teachers and classmates would be extremely beneficial to the students. In addition, if the governments gave their approval, then the schools will be opened following the directives of the state government. He also said that proper SOPs as issued by the authorities will be followed.

The release also took other upcoming events into consideration. CISCE, through their press release, requested the Chief Election Commissioner of India to share the dates of upcoming elections in various states of India in the month of April and May 2021.

Since many government school teachers are put on election duty during the time of elections, this would help CISCE in scheduling the exams.

It would also ensure that there is no shortage of staff during the time of examination. Thus, there would be no clash of dates and students would be able to take their exams without any kind of inconvenience or interruption.
