Delhi Government Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia recently launched a certificate course for health assistants on June 28, 2021. Within four days after the launch of the certificate program, over 1.5 lakh people have already applied for the same.
Delhi Government Certificate Course has been launched for the youth who have all the required basic skills in the medical field, and now wish to pursue a long-term certificate course in the same domain.
The certificate course has been offered to medical students in partnership with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and has already received over Rs 5 crore funds from the Delhi Government.
During the launch of the Certificate Course, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, "We want to create a model youth force in Delhi that will be equipped with all the basic skills and knowledge to fight any medical crisis”.
“Not only will our youth be prepared to fight any crisis, but they will also be able to provide medical assistance to their family and people in their community" he further added.
Referring to the intake of over a total of 1.5 lakh people since the launch of the program, the Deputy Chief Minister further stated that many people have shown interest in the program. With the positive response, the first batch of the program has added over 5,000 trainees.
Health Minister Satyendar Jain added that Delhi Government Certificate Course is considered an important course for dealing with a medical crisis in the future.
The course offers students with various employment opportunities in the field of health assistance. The course will teach participants how to assist nurses, and doctors, he further added.
Additionally, under the certificate course, course trainees will be taught about various health measures such as how to measure oxygen, inject medicines, blood pressure, along with didactic and demonstrative training in the first week.

Trainees will be provided with basic training under the course in various nine hospitals in Delhi including; Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Chacha Nehru Child Clinic, Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Ambedkar Medical College, ESIC Hospital Basaidharapur, and Hindu Rao Hospital among others.
After the completion of the Delhi Government Certificate Course, participants will be provided with a certificate, and medical kit, which will include a blood pressure monitoring device, thermometer, and oximeter.
