Delhi Government Launches Delhi’s First Teachers University, Admissions Open From This Year; Check Details Here


New Delhi: Delhi Teachers University was inaugurated by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia which will begin its admissions from this year. The state government has chosen to establish the one-of-a-kind Delhi Teachers University on 12 acres of land in Bakkarwala village in west Delhi, according to information released by the minister via his official Twitter handle.

Candidates who enrol at Delhi Teacher University will have access to cutting-edge classrooms, a library, a lecture hall, computer laboratories, and a conference room. The institution will be able to house 5,000 students, according to the official announcement. 

According to a previous official announcement, the main university block would be a four-story structure with administration and educational floors.

On December 20, last year, the cabinet approved a plan to create Delhi Teachers University in the national capital with the goal of training 'new generation teachers.' 

After the Cabinet agreed with the establishment of the university, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, stated, “Delhi Teachers University will also collaborate with the best national and international institutes and it will also research on the best teaching techniques.”

While inaugurating the university, Manish Sisodia said, “It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate the 'Delhi Teachers University.' This is Delhi's first of its kind university that aims to prepare well-trained and highly qualified teachers. Arvind Kejriwal-led Govt aims to inspire today's students to become tomorrow's teachers.”

“The University will offer a new-age integrated teacher education programme after Class 12. It will also emphasize fundamental and applied research in education by collaborating with national and international organizations,” the minister added.

The government of the National Capital announced the key features of the Delhi Teachers University, which will have high-quality pre-service and in-service programmes, new age BEd, MEd, PhD, and certificate programmes, a strong emphasis on fundamental and applied research in education, national and international collaboration for the exchange of ideas and practise, and partnerships with schools to provide hands-on experience.
