New Delhi: Delhi University is planning to offer value-addition courses on art of happiness, emotional intelligence, and Indian literature from the academic year 2022–2023. These courses will be offered in line with Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022.

As per Delhi University, the DU Academic Council is now discussing the plans to offer 24 courses with a similar focus on helping students improve critical thinking to university students. The decision will now forward to the executive council for further approval.

According to Kumar, who the Indian Express quoted, "The courses include different elements like critical thinking, compassion, collaboration, scientific temperament, Indian knowledge systems, ethical, cultural, and constitutional principles, and creative writing."

The credits they earn through these courses will be added to the student's Academic Bank of Credits when they apply for this course. Several courses were influenced by well-known initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including Fit India and Swacch Bharat.
The Art of Being Happy focuses on teaching students ways to cope with stress, the physiological and hormonal factors that contribute to happiness, the factors that make us happy, and how to achieve a sense of self-actualization in relationships.
In the Emotional Intelligence course, students will learn about building positive relationships and developing their emotional intelligence skills. They will also learn how to manage their own emotions and be aware of their social interactions.
The students will enhance their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities while learning about understanding Indian ethos and values via Indian fiction. They will also become aware of the power of fiction to affect social and cultural change.
Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) value addition courses will deter students from exercising critical thought. Students will get familiar with Indian literature and will be encouraged to critically evaluate books in light of their personal experiences.
