ESIC Medical College to be the Model for Developing Teaching Hospitals in Bihar and Rajasthan; Check Details Here


Employee State Insurance Corporation Medical College (ESIC), Hyderabad is to act as the model for upgrading two new teaching hospitals located at Alwar, Rajasthan, and Bihta, Bihar.

The two colleges were reported by a committee to already have a fully equipped 500-bed hospital with construction on par with top medical colleges but still require further upgradation to make them fully operational.

The committee consisted of Professor M. Srinivas, Dean of ESIC Hyderabad Medical College, and ESIC Board Member K.K. Agarwal. The colleges may become fully functional within 6 months with facilities such as digital classrooms, laboratories, hostels, sports, staff quarters, etc required for an intake of 150 students.

The ESIC Medical College, Sanathnagar affiliated with KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal is the nodal center for recruitments to all other colleges with the AEBAS and online recruitment process. 

The college has drastically reduced its referrals to other hospitals to zero from 20,000 in 2016 with the patient attendance going up to 4000 a day. The college’s 400 students are made to adopt hospital beds for regular interactions.

Professor Srinivas informed, “We became the first ESIC medical college to fillup 100% insured people and also secured the highest number of distinctions among all the medical colleges in 2019 in Telangana”.

The ESIC Medical college is a 470-bed hospital with 150-bed super-specialty backup and spread over an area of 30 Acres. The college also has 14 operation theatres and 16 super specialty departments. It will soon provide round the clock dialysis services.
