DTE Madhya Pradesh conducts the MP BTech Admission 2023. MP BTech Admission 2023 is done on the basis of an entrance exam score followed by a counseling round. Candidates must qualify for the JEE Main Entrance exam to seek admission to the BTech Course in Madhya Pradesh. JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admissions to various undergraduate engineering courses across the nation. Marks secured in the JEE Main 2023 entrance test will be evaluated and seats will be allotted on the basis of rank secured by the candidate. 

MP BTech Admission is mainly based on the score in JEE Main, a national-level entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). However, candidates without JEE Main score can also apply for admission to BTech course in Madhya Pradesh. Once the allotment procedure on the basis of JEE Main score is completed, the remaining seats will be allotted on the basis of merit in their 10+2 examination.  Admissions to BTech courses take place through various national-level or state-level engineering entrance examinations. MP BTech Admission usually begins in September 2023.

MP BTech Admission 2023: Important Dates

Candidates aspiring for admission to BTech Course in Madhya Pradesh must follow the dates for JEE Main Exam available at the official website of NTA.

The online registration for BTech Web Counselling in Madhya Pradesh starts in September. The students seeking admission to the course must follow the dates for the Merit list and counseling procedure (allotment process) as tabulated below:

MP BTech Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

For admission in the BTech Course in Madhya Pradesh, every candidate needs to satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the authority:

  • The candidate should be an Indian National.
  • Educational Qualifications:
  • The candidate should have passed Class XII or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University. 
  • The Candidate must have passed the Class XII Examination with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Technical Vocational subject/ Information Technology / Informatics Practices / Agriculture / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies as the main subjects with a minimum aggregate of 45% in the class 12th qualifying examination.
  • However, there is a relaxation of 5% for reserved category candidates, i.e, 40% in aggregate.
  • Candidates who have passed the Diploma in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% masks (40% marks in case of reserved categories) are also eligible for admission to the course. 
  • Candidates who are appearing or whose results are yet to be declared can also apply for admission to the course.
  • Age Limit: Since JEE Main is a major criterion for BTech admissions, there is no age limit for the candidates for appearing in the JEE (Main) examination.

MP BTech Admission Process 2023

The mode of filling the application form is completely online. Interested candidates can fill up the application form for JEE Main on the official website of National Testing Agency (NTA). The students need to pay the application fees in online mode only.

An interested candidate needs to follow the following steps in order to apply for the course:

  • Visit the official website of NTA. (www.nta.ac.in )
  • Click on the link/button for Online Registration. 
  • Register for Online Application Form and note down system generated Application Number.
  • After successful registration, a Login ID(Application No.) and password will be generated.
  • Candidates need to fill out the application form available on the website carefully by going through all the instructions and after checking the eligibility criteria.
  • Upload Scanned Images of the Candidate's Photograph, Candidate Signature, and class 12th Admit card/Mark sheet/Certificate in the prescribed format.
  • Pay the application fees online through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/PayTM.
  • The admit card for the entrance exam will be issued before the Exam.

MP BTech Admission 2023: Selection Procedure

  • The admission to the BTech course is purely based on the score in JEE Main, a national-level entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • The names of the candidates will be displayed in the merit list based on marks/rank. The candidates who make it to the merit list will have to go through the counseling process.
  • Once the allotment procedure on the basis of JEE Main Score is completed, the remaining seats will be allotted on the basis of merit in the Class XII examination.

MP BTech Admission 2023: Counselling Process

There is a centralized online counseling procedure conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Madhya Pradesh in government engineering colleges, private/ unaided engineering colleges, and state universities. The counseling procedure involves registration, uploading documents, choice filling and locking, seat allotment and reporting and fee payment at the allotted college. The process of Web counseling is mentioned below:

  • Online Registration And Application:
    • The aspiring candidates must register themselves for online counseling on the official website of DTE, Madhya Pradesh. After successful registration, Login ID and password would be generated. 
    • The candidates need to login to the portal and fill the application form for BTech counseling and upload the required documents in prescribed format. 
  • Online Certificate Verification Of The Candidate:
    • The documents uploaded by the candidates would be verified by the authorities online. The eligibility to participate in the Choice-Filling process would be decided by the e-verification of documents. 
  • Choice Filling And Locking
    • The candidates can choose the maximum number of colleges they wish to join and arrange them in the order of priority. Once the candidates are sure about the choices or options filled in the Form, they can lock their choice to confirm the entry.
    • The candidates need to pay an amount of Rs. 1530 in order to participate in the choice filling and allotment procedure.
  • Final Allotment Of Seats
    • The seats will be allotted in the counseling process on the basis of JEE Main Ranks followed by Merit in Class XII, filled choices, availability of seats and category. The final allotments will be placed on the website on the scheduled date. The Candidate can download the allotment order by logging on the portal.
  • Reporting And Payment Of Fees At The College
    • The candidates need to report at the allotted college along with the seat allotment letter. The candidate also needs to pay the course fee. If a Candidate fails to report by the dates stipulated, the allotment stands canceled.

MP BTech Admission 2023: Reservation Policy

According to the Directorate of Education, only 5% of total seats in MP will be reserved for All India Basis. 5% of seats will be reserved for NRI or International students.

Rest 90% of seats are reserved under state quota for Madhya Pradesh Permanent Residents/domiciles with reservations for various categories as tabulated below:

MP BTech Admission 2023: FAQs

Ques. What does the Upgradation of Seat in Counselling mean?

Ans. If a candidate is not satisfied with the seat allotted to him/her and wants to upgrade it, then he/she can re-submit the option entry form on the official website. The candidate has to pay Rs. 1030 as the upgradation fee. If the seat is upgraded, he/she has to take the upgraded seat allotment letter and report to the institute. If not, then the candidate has to report to the previously allotted institute within the stipulated time. 

Ques. What is the procedure for admission to BTech Course in MP on the basis of Merit in Class XII?

Ans. Candidates who do not have a valid JEE Main score can participate in the admission process with their Class XII scores. Once the allotment procedure on the basis of JEE Main Score is completed, the remaining seats will be allotted on the basis of merit in Class XII examination. A separate merit list would be published for the same in the second round of Counselling.

Ques. What would be the mode of JEE Main exam?

Ans. The JEE Main exam would be held offline at the allotted centers to the candidates. For BTech There would be a Computer-Based Test comprising Objective-type questions from the given syllabus. 

Ques. What is Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme in BTech admissions in MP?

Ans. Candidates whose parents' income is less than 8 Lakh per annum are eligible for Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme. It means they are not applicable to pay the tuition fee/charges to the college. However, all other charges would be paid by the candidate. 

Ques. Can I make changes in the Choice-Filling form once I have locked the choices?

Ans. No, the candidates can not change/ modify their choices once they have locked it. All the changes regarding choice filling must be done before locking.
