IIMs In India: Eligibility Criteria
Before we talk about the IIMs, let us understand the basic criteria that the students need to follow in order to attain admission at any college or university for an MBA course. It is important to remember that fulfilling the minimum eligibility is important as without it, the candidates cannot apply for the entrance exams.
- Students or candidates need to score a minimum 50 percent aggregate marks in their under graduation in the general category. While the reserved category gets a 5 percent relaxation.
- Candidates or students who are appearing for their final year of under graduation or bachelor’s degree can also apply for the entrance exams even if they have not received their results.
IIMs in India: Admission Process
After fulfilling the eligibility, the students have to go through a long process of selection which starts with appearing for an entrance exam. The complete process is divided into three sections and is mentioned below.
- The candidates give the entrance exams, and based on their scores, they are shortlisted by the college committee. The candidates are invited for the WAT/GD-PI round where the candidates who have been called out due to their CAT score have to verify themselves through their CAT IDs.
- The candidates, then. go through multiple screenings to further shortlist and decrease the number of students. The candidates need to give their WAT exam first, and then they are called for a group discussion session with the rest of the candidates. Finally, the candidates go through a Private Interview session with the faculty chosen as judges.
- The last stage is where the overall performance of the candidate is calculated and given a cumulative score. The candidates who are able to achieve a good score, make it to the final cut-off list released by the college or university. They finally receive an offer letter through post or email which they have to accept in order to fix their seat in the college.
