Pondicherry University Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Exam 2015 Application Notification

Center for Bioinformatics Pondicherry University has invited the application for BINC examination 2015. Through this exam candidates will be able to take admission in the below mentioned programmes:

• M.Sc. Bioinformatics
• M.Sc. Computational Biology
• M.Tech. Computational Biology
• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics

Eligibility Criteria for BINC Examination 2015:

M.Sc. Bioinformatics:

Those candidates are eligible to apply if,

They have passed 10+2 with Science and Bachelor’s degree in any science discipline with at least 55% of Marks in the aggregate from any recognized University.

M.Sc. Computational Biology:

• Candidate should have passed Bachelor’s degree in any subjects Physical/ Chemical/ Life Sciences/ Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Bachelor of Engineering/ M.B.B.S.
• Candidate must have passed 10+2 level in Math with minimum of 55% of marks.

Ph.D. in Bioinformatics:

The following categories of candidates are eligible to apply for all Ph.D. (Full-time) programmes.

(a) Candidates should have passed Master Degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% of marks or equivalent from a recognized University or an equivalent system recognized by this University.

Or

(b) Teacher candidates working in the institutions admitted to the privileges of this University and other Universities provided they are qualified and granted leave for the required period by the competent authority.

Or

(c) Candidates with GATE or other similar qualifications employed in research projects in the University departments or recognized research institutions provided they possess the required educational qualifications.

Or

(d) Candidates who have cleared the JRF/Lectureship examinations of UGC/ CSIR/NET/ GATE/ SLET or such other examination recognized by the University with the prescribed educational qualification(s) are exempted from the entrance exam.

 How to Apply Online:

At the time of application you must have:

• Firstly open the BINC, Pondicherry university website
• Click on the registration button
• Enter your personal details
• A valid mobile number as all information related to exam will be sent via SMS
• Upload your recent scanned photo on a white background (photo should be 140 x 160 (90Kb))
• Take a printout of your filled online application form
• Pay the fee by Demand Draft

Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Pondicherry University, Payable at Puducherry (Nationalised Bank Only)

Important Notes:

• Write your application number, it will be your login id
• Write your name and application number on reverse of Demand Draft.
• Do not send the photocopies of academic certificates / marksheets etc. along with application form

Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Exam Pattern 2015:

The examination consists of three papers: Paper I objective type (online). The syllabus consists of six sections: Bioinformatics, Biology, Physical Science, Chemical Science, Mathematics & Statistics and Information Technology.

Negative Marking: There will be negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer only in paper I.

The list of successful candidates in the paper I will be announced on 10th June 2015 on the website

Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) 2015 Selection Process:

• Only those candidates shall be eligible to appear in Paper II and Paper III, who secure 40% or above marks in Paper I.
• For final selection candidates shall have to scoring a minimum of 40% or above in each papers (Paper I, Paper II & Paper III) will be certified. Final list will be displayed at the BINC website
• For Ph.D programme candidate will be selected for the project by JRF-CSIR
