New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT) Kanpur has issued a notification informing about the cancellation of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 at a few international exam centers.
IIT Kanpur has announced the cancellation of seven international exam centers for the upcoming GATE 2023 by stating that the decision to withdraw the GATE 2023 exam centers in the seven cities was taken due to operational issues.
According to the notice released by IIT Kanpur, the international exam centers in Dhaka, (Bangladesh); Kathmandu, (Nepal); Kuala Lumpur, (Malaysia); Male, (Maldives); Port Louis, (Mauritius); Singapore,(Singapore); and Thimpu (Bhutan) will not conduct the GATE 2023.
Furthermore, the announcement states that the GATE 2023 exam for the BM, CY, EC, EE, ES, and XH subjects will be held in Dubai (UAE) on February 5, 2022 and that the exams for the CE1, CE2, MN, and ST subjects will not be held on February 12, 2023.
Instructions for Applicants Taking GATE 2023 Exam
Candidates who are preparing to appear for the GATE 2023 exams in the cancelled exam centers can revoke their candidacy by following the instructions provided below.
- Option A: Applicants who have already enrolled for the GATE 2023 tests may revoke their applications and receive a full refund of their application fees.
- Option B: Candidates may choose from one of the Indian cities offered, and their initial registration cost will be reimbursed. However, students should be aware that there is a price per paper to take the exam in India, which is listed below.
Indian Nationals who are SC/ST/PwD and female candidates would have to pay Rs. 850/, while others including foreign nationals would have to pay Rs. 1700/ for the process. Applicants must note that the deadline for students to submit their options is December 5, 2022.
Candidates can log in to their accounts to exercise the second option. They can enter their enrolment ID and name and choose their option (Withdrawal/ Appearing for Exam in India) and report their decision through the email id at gate@iitk.ac.in.
In addition to this, IIT Kanpur has released the subject-wise GATE 2023 exam dates. According to the schedule released, the GATE 2023 exam will be held online in computer-based test (CBT) mode in various exam centers on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2023.
The entrance examination will be held in two shifts on each day. The first shift will be held in the morning session, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the second shift will be held in the afternoon session, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for all registered candidates.
