GSHSEB(Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board) has decided that CBSE Class 10 level Mathematics Basic is not enough for admission to Class 11 in Science stream. Hence, it has declared the students who have cleared their Grade 10 with Mathematics Basic are not allowed to opt for Mathematics or any science course in Grade 11.

The decision was made and communicated by the State Board on August 7,2020. The District Education Officers were intimidated by the decision and were instructed to convey the same to the Higher Secondary Schools affiliated to the state board.

Till last year, all the candidates in CBSE Grade 11 were allowed to pursue Mathematics along with Science in the schools affiliated to the State Board.

CBSE offers a choice to the candidates between the two majors- Mathematics Basic and Mathematics Standard. According to the State Board, students who have passed with Mathematics Standard can apply for Science and Maths in Class 11.
