Gujarat University: Over 12,000 B.Com Seats Vacant after Four rounds of online admission

Gujarat University has completed the fourth round of online admission for commerce courses at the undergraduate level. As per reports, colleges affiliated to the university have recorded the number of vacant seats to be 12,633.

After conducting three rounds of online admission, Gujarat University faced difficulty in filling up a large number of commerce seats. Hence the university decided to conduct a fourth round of online admission for commerce courses.

However, only 2,899 enrolled for the fourth round of admission out of which 2,797 candidates were provided admission. The admission committee has mentioned that out of 40,744 seats allotted for commerce courses, only 28,111 seats have been filled up. About 12,633 seats remain vacant.

The fourth round of counselling was conducted to those 11,000 candidates who did not get admission in the previous three rounds because they could not get the college of their choice. GU has a total of 12,633 seats vacant after the conduct of the fourth round.

The thin participation of candidates for the fourth round of admission suggests that the remaining candidates have already secured admission in some other colleges. The admission committee initiated the admission process for about 40,000 commerce seats and ended up with about 13,000 vacant seats.

GU Admission Process

For B.Com course admission, Gujarat University follows merit based admission. The admission is provided through counselling. Candidates need to apply online with the 14 digit pin provided by the University at their venue. This year the 14 digit pin is provided online.

The following tabulation gives the dates for online pin distribution and other admission events at Gujarat University.

Candidates need to fill in the application form with the 14 digit pin and fill in the personal details. They will be called for counselling on the basis of merit marks secured.
