An Act of Parliament in 1956 established the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). It is an autonomous body. AIIMS provides its own medical degrees and other academic distinctions. AIIMS  are a group of colleges that provide medical education to students who clear their exam. AIIMS is located in seven different locations, and the head branch is in New Delhi. AIIMS Delhi is the most popular of all and serves its purpose of providing quality medical education as well as treating patients with utmost care. AIIMS MBBS Exam Pattern

• The AIIMS MBBS entrance test will be held in online mode i.e. computer-based test.
• The duration of the exam will be 3.30 hours.
• The entrance test will be asked either in English or in Hindi.
• There will be a total 200 multiple choice questions in the exam.
• The question will be asked from the subject of the qualifying exam including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Knowledge and Aptitude.
• Each question will carry 1 mark and for every correct response 1 mark will be awarded.
• There is negative marking in AIIMS entrance test and for every incorrect attempt, 1/3rd marks will be deducted.

Generally questions will be asked from 12th standard Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge and Aptitude.

Physics: Laws of Motion, Solids, Work, Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Energy and Power, Behaviour of Perfect Gases, Oscillations and Waves, Kinetic Theory of Gases etc.

Chemistry: Chemical Thermodynamics, Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, s -Block Elements, Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties etc.

Biology: Cell Structure and Function, Human Physiology, Diversity of Living Organisms, Biotechnology and its Applications, Biology and Human Welfare, Environment and Ecology etc.

General Knowledge: Current Affairs Business, Heads of big companies, Punch line of companies, Major corporate events, Famous award and prizes, Famous Writers and Books, World Records, Science, History, Sports etc.

Trends in AIIMS exam

According to a Press Trust of India report,In 2020 during COVID-19pandamic time  a total of 33,491 aspirants took the entrance exam. Before the date of exam, Delhi High Court in the judgement of not postponing AIIMS PG exam mentioned that 40,000 aspirants had registered for the test. About 1 lakh students appeared for AIIMS MBBS 2015 entrance exam through offline and online mode for 672 seats in 7 AIIMS-like institutions across India (including 72 MBBS seats in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi).Only about 0.67 % students who took AIIMS 2015 exam were able to clear it. The number of applicants have increased due to a hike in the seats of aiims. In 2017 aiims ug , about 2.8 lakh students appeared . And total mbbs seats were 672. In 2018, few seats have increased (total 700 approx). More than 3 lakh applicants are  gone for it.
