Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam (IIIT Kottayam), Kerala has developed an open-source platform for the teaching and learning process (OSOC-P).
The Platform allows IIIT Kottayam management to conduct lectures, and proctored examinations and enables the faculty to conduct virtual labs.
The extraordinary disturbance caused by the Covid-19 outbreak has forced the education sector to resort to a digital mode of teaching.
However, in the absence of robust infrastructure, the education sector was concerned about the efficiency of remote learning.
Considering the above points, IIIT Kottayam decided to build a customized software using Moodle plugins that support the existing infrastructure.

This new learning framework, created with the dynamic help of its employee and specialized support staff which is now harvesting profits for the organization.

- It can be utilized for arranging virtual programming labs under which students are given a code editor to compose their program and it will be passed towards different experiments.
- Each course keeps up a different dashboard containing its declarations and lecture notes and is associated with its meeting room.

- The meeting sessions can be recorded and students can access those recordings till the finish of that course.
- It likewise empowers the management to conduct online examinations based on Multiple Choice Questions.
- Students can upload the answer script and the copied answer will be flagged immediately.
- The evaluation of tasks and reports for courses can also be done through this platform.
- Since the faculty member can control the volume of data transmission by diminishing the video quality, the system works productively even if there is a fall in internet speed.
