New Delhi: Aditya Pratap Singh Chauhan, an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore IPM participant, was awarded the highly coveted Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2023.

Aditya, an IIM Indore student was one of the 11 recipients from throughout the country to win this coveted award, which was given out by Draupadi Murmu, the President of India, during a lavish event held at Vigyan Bhawan.

Aditya won the award under the "Innovation Category" for his ground-breaking research study on 'MICROPA, which is a cutting-edge method for filtering microplastics from drinking water using algae and dyes.'

'MICROPA: A novel technique for the dye-based detection and algae-driven filtration of microplastics in drinking water.'

Further, Aditya also had an amazing chance to speak with the Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during the award ceremony.

Expressing his delight, IIM Indore's Professor Rai said that Aditya's receipt of the esteemed Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2023 has made the institute incredibly proud. For all of the IIM Indore students who want to go deeply into study and creativity, Aditya is a great inspiration.

According to Prof Rai, IIM Indore places a strong emphasis on providing the best programmes that enable students to learn by applying what they have learned in class in real life.

Speaking about his ground-breaking research, Aditya said that the detection method he came up with uses a special biochemical dye to be applied to a water sample, which is then run through an algorithm based on computer vision to forecast how many microplastics are present in drinking water.

He said that Microalgae is used as the filtering agent in a filter cartridge in the second step. This project began when he was in the ninth grade, and it took a few years to grow until he was accepted into the IPM programme at IIM Indore.

Aditya continued saying that he made the best option by choosing to enrol in the IPM programme because it only served to fuel his passion in research technique. The IPM course has introduced him to a variety of areas and helped him choose his future endeavours.

Moreover, Aditya's proposal took home a silver prize in the International Genius Olympiad, which attracted competitors from over 80 nations. It has been a part of Team India at the ISEF 2020 (the largest STEM Innovation Fair for High School Students in the World).

The institute officials revealed that Aditya's accomplishments are proof of the value of perseverance, commitment, and IIM Indore's consistent support. The institute heartily congratulates Aditya on this outstanding accomplishment and sends him best wishes for his future endeavours.
