IIM Kashipur Sees 186 Percent Increase in Female Student Enrollment


IIM Kashipur has inducted 285 students into the 10th batch of its MBA course and 54 students into the first batch of the MBA Analytics programme. 

The new group of students in MBA Analytics has set at least two records. 54 percent of the 54 students in the batch are female. This is also the first time that the majority of students in any batch of IIM Kashipur is female.

There has been a growth rate of 186 percent from the last batch. The new batch has a healthy representation of female students from 20 states and union territories across the country. To promote gender diversity, the institute has continued its initiative of sanctioning 15 supernumerary seats for women.

According to IIM Kashipur, the current batch is the most academically diverse. It comprises an unusually high number of students with a non-engineering background. As much as 45 percent of the batch comes from diverse disciplines such as humanities, science, commerce, management studies, architecture, hotel and tourism management, and so on. This figure is 26 percent in the case of the MBA Analytics batch.

Despite IIM Kashipur being located in Uttarakhand, it has attracted over 23 percent of its students from southern India.

In an official statement, IIM Kashipur said, “The financial empowerment of women boosts the economic growth of the nation as a whole. Women managers tend to possess skills like empathy, effective communication, creativity which are extremely important in the corporate world. 

“IIM-Kashipur is committed towards the goal of inclusiveness and maintained that the true measure of gender diversity depends not only on gender alone but also on the approach towards inclusivity and diversity,.”
