IIM Lucknow to Establish a "Centre of Happiness" to Promote Mental Well-being

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML) has planned to establish a new Centre of Happiness to study, understand, and encourage mental health.
During the institute’s 37th convocation ceremony, the IIM-L director Prof. Archana Shukla stated that the centre of happiness will be set up in a collaboration with the Rekhi Foundation, a US-based organisation.

According to Shukla, this centre of happiness will help the IIML faculty to understand problems of stress and anxiety by establishing 'Mind Labs' that undertake behavioural research and encourage happiness. Shukla remarked that leadership is about more than just accomplishment, it's also about making a difference in society.

Graduates in management have a special chance to influence organisations' and communities' futures. She urged the pupils to always put morality and integrity first, which will facilitate decision-making and allow for the development of an inclusive and respectful working culture.

Shukla revealed that a new programme called MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation will begin in August, and its goal is to give aspiring business owners the industry exposure, expertise, and skills they need for their businesses.

She continued by saying that Niti Aayog had selected IIML as the "State Institute of Transformation" to help the planning department of Uttar Pradesh for enhancing its capabilities. In order to carry out PAN-India research on sustainable water management and conservation, the Centre for Marketing in Emerging Economies (CMEE) has partnered with Dr. Vasantha Lakshmi Charitable Trust Research Centre.

Further, the students launched IIM-first L's "Diversity and Inclusion Club," demonstrating their dedication to encouraging a warm and inclusive school atmosphere, Prof. Shukla said. Meanwhile, the latest reports reveal that IIM-L faculty have published more than 152 papers in national and international journals during the academic session 2022-23.

Appreciating the efforts of faculty members, Shukla said that three members – Professor Samir K Srivastava, Professor Suresh K Jakhar and Professor Sushil Kumar -- have been featured among the top 2% of researchers for single-year impact in the world, as per the study conducted by Stanford University and published by Elsevier.
