IIM Sambalpur: PM Modi to Lay Foundation of Permanent Campus Today (Jan 02); Read Here


On January 1, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to address that he would lay the foundation stone of IIM Sambalpur’s permanent campus on January 2 (Saturday), at 11 AM through video conferencing. 

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik will also be attending the video conference, during which the PM will lay the foundation stone of the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur

On January 1, at 0:00 pm, PM Narendra Modi tweeted “At 11 AM tomorrow, 2nd January, will lay the foundation stone for the permanent campus of IIM-Sambalpur”.

He further added, “Would especially call upon my student friends and those in the world of start-ups to join the program. India is proud of the rich contributions of IIMs to national progress.”

While announcing, the Prime Minister also appealed to young students and entrepreneurs to join the virtual program and applaud the contributions of IIMs in the progress of the nation. 

PMO issued a statement according to which, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Governor of Odisha, Ganeshi Lal as well as Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal, Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi will grace the occasion.

“The ceremony will be virtually attended by over 5000 invites including officials, industry leaders, academicians and students, alumni and faculty of IIM Sambalpur,” the statement said.

As per latest reports, IIM Sambalpur has become the first IIM to implement a flipped classroom where students will get to learn basic concepts in digital mode for experiential learning in the class, through live industry projects.

Of late, IIM Sambalpur had outperformed all the older IIMs in maintaining highest gender diversity with 49% female students in MBA batch of 2019-2021, and 43% in MBA (2020-2022), a statement by the institute revealed.
