IIM Sambalpur Starts New MBA Batch 2021-23; Female Enrolment at 48%, Read Full Report Here


Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has begun its new MBA Batch of academic session 2021-2023 for all registered students from July 19, 2021. The program classes are now scheduled to commence through online mode due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. 

Out of total registered students for MBA Batch of 2021-2023, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has recorded over 48 percent enrollment of females this year, which is more than the female registration percentage received in 2020.

In 2020, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur recorded over 44 percent registration of female students for the MBA program out of a total of 100% seats. The remaining seats were filled by male students who registered for the same.

Referring to the female registration in IIMS MBA Program, the Institute said, “We have adopted a policy to make campus inclusive. Stream-wise, as many as 67 percent of the candidates are from an engineering background and 65 percent of students have prior working experience".

The officials further added that the Indian Institute of Management MBA Batch of 2021 has a strength of about 169 students in total, which includes a combination of academic diversity and gender. 

Adding to the statement, the institute officials said, due to the ongoing pandemic situation in the country, the institute has decided to conduct virtual classes for MBA students as of now. The classes will commence through flipped classrooms followed by a blended pedagogy.

IIM Common Admission Process (CAP)

While comparing to last year's registration data, the institute has recorded a drop in registration numbers from female candidates in various IIMs in India including Institutes of National Importance (INI).

As per All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-2020 data, the female students who have applied for courses are now recorded at 24.7 percent, which is considerably low among the top 11 institutes in India. 

On the other hand, the Gender Parity Index (GPI) in higher education in 2019-20 has recorded an increase in enrollment from female students. However, the number of students who have shown interest in various program registration is still low in comparison to males. 

In accordance with the data received by Gender Parity Index (GPI), various esteemed institutes in the country have only recorded 33.4 percent women enrollment, while state private universities have a record of 34.7 percent female enrollment.
