New Delhi: For the very first time, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Trichy has decided to give weightage to class 10 and 12 marks for admission to its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) for the academic year 2022-2023.
From this year, IIM Trichy is also planning to increase its seat intake by 140. Approximately 410 students will be admitted from this academic year.
While discussing the 2022 admission policy of IIM Trichy PGPM programme, Professor Prashant Gupta, the institute’s chairperson, said that earlier, the institute used to give 10% weightage in admission for UG scores.
“This year, the admission committee decided to break down the 10% to give 2% weightage to Class X marks, 3% for Class XII marks and 5% for graduation marks. Students with consistent academic performance will get preference in the new weightage system”, he further added.

Last year, IIM Trichy had an intake capacity of 240 seats in the PGPM course and 30 seats in the PGPM HR Programme. As per Professor Gupta, the institute is planning to increase the capacity to 360 in PGPM and to 50 in PGPM HR Courseses.

The Professor also explained that IIM Trichy will conduct the Common Admission Process 2022 (CAP) on behalf of nine IIMs in Bodh Gaya, Jammu, Kashipur, Raipur, Udaipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Sirmaur and Trichy. This year, the available seat number for the Common Admission Process 2022 is most likely to increase by approximately 200. According to Professor Gupta, the total seat number will be approximately 2600.
Last year, approximately 17500 students were invited for the CAP and 13000 students appeared for the personal interview. This year IIM Trichy is planning to call 20000 students and expecting about 15000 students to participate in the process.

During the pandemic situation, the nine IIMs have decided to exclude the Written Ability Test (WAT) this year as well. They are to conduct personal interviews online.
"IIM-Trichy used to give 10% weightage to WAT. Now that weightage for personal interview has increased from 18% to 25% and remaining three percent weightage will be given to verbal comprehension, which will be taken from the candidates' CAP score”, as the officials have mentioned.

The last date for CAP Registration is January 28, 2022.
After the registration process, a notification regarding the personal interview process will be sent to the successfully registered candidates. The personal interview process for the 2022-2024 batch is scheduled to be conducted in three weeks in three slots from February 12 to March 12, 2022.
