IIM Visakhapatnam Director, M Chandrasekhar Reappointed for Second Term


New Delhi: Professor M. Chandrasekhar has been reappointed as the Director of IIM Visakhapatnam. The Board of Governors has made the announcement regarding the appointment of Professor Chandrasekhar for the second time. 

As per IIM Visakhapatnam, M. Chandrasekhar has been appointed for a second term of five years with effect from March 22, 2022.

Thanking the Board of Governors members and other officials from the Ministry of Education, Professor Chandrasekhar has stated that under his directorate, the vision of IIM Visakhapatnam will be to rank among the top 20 business schools in the country within the next five years. 

About IIMV Director M Chandrasekhar:

Professor M. Chandrasekhar is an engineer and management professional. He had an M.Tech from IIT Delhi and PhD from IIT Bombay among other qualifications. From 1983 to 2002, he held senior management and top executive grade positions in the corporate world, especially in the fields of manufacturing and BFSI. 

From April 2002 to March 2017, he was with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad, as a full-time professor. Additionally, he held many other prestigious positions such as Centre Director of Dean, Area Chair in multiple disciplines. 

From March 22, 2017, he has been the Director of IIM Visakhapatnam. Besides that, he has been the Chairman or Member of many highly powerful apex or empowered committees consulted by the Government of India. He also served on the Boards of organisations in the public and private sectors.

About IIM Visakhapatnam:

IIM Visakhapatnam is one of the new generation IIMs and has been conferred upon the title of “Institute of National Importance” by the Indian Government. Out of the programmes available, the most popular programme of the institute is a 2 year-long full-time MBA Programme. 

For admission to MBA, the institute accepts CAT scores. The admission process is in 2 stages. During stage 1, IIM V releases a shortlist of candidates on the basis of their CAT scores, academic performance and work experience. The minimum cutoff to have the opportunity of getting shortlisted is 80 percentile.

Shortlisted candidates who have been already interviewed by any IIMs, for MBA courses, are not required to appear for the direct interviews in IIM Visakhapatnam.
