IIM Vizag Admissions 2022: Records 50% Rise in MBA Applications

New Delhi: IIM Visakhapatnam has enrolled 294 students in its flagship MBA programme for the 2022-24 academic session. Last year, 196 students were admitted to this course, reflecting a 50% increase this year.

In preparation for its move to a permanent campus in Gambheeram, IIM Vizag raised its intake capacity for the new batch. Classes for first-year PGP students will be held in a cutting-edge facility being built in the Visakhapatnam outskirts.

The institute has so far built academic and hostel blocks, as well as other necessary amenities for students at its Gambheeram campus, paving the way for new entrants to become the institution's first occupants.

While around 12,000 CAT-qualified individuals applied for admission to IIM Vizag, the renowned business school evaluated around 6,000 applications and interviewed approximately 3,000 candidates for its almost 300-seat intake.

72% of these nearly 300 applicants, who are from 21 different states throughout the country, have work experience. The average work experience of the batch is over two years. Since these two fields account for 80% of the students, the batch is dominated by graduates in engineering and technology.

On Saturday, IIM-Visakhapatnam officially launched its eighth batch of PGP, fourth batch of the PhD programme and fourth batch of the executive MBA programme in management for experienced professionals.

Manish Goyal, COO of Bain Capability Network, attended the inaugural as the chief guest. According to IIM-Vizag director M Chandrasekhar, the initial phase of construction of the permanent campus will be finished by the year's end.

Prof Chandrasekhar said that the institute does not only focus on producing a talent pipeline of confident management professionals but also moulds them into leaders and socially responsible citizens.
