IIT Bhubaneswar Celebrated National Education Day Amid COVID 19 Pandemic


IIT Bhubneswar celebrated National Education Day 2020 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. 

Since 2008, every year November 11 is celebrated as the National Education Day in the memory of great freedom fighter and educationist Mr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. 

Mr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad is noted to be the first Union Minister of education at IIT Bhubaneswar.

The National Education Day event was started with a floral ceremony by Prof. R V Raja Kumar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar

Prof. R V Kumar addressed the event and said that Shri. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad as the first education minister of independent India had shown great leadership for developing many education institutes in India including IIT Kharagpur, IISc Bangalore, School of Planning and Architecture, and the University Grant Commission (UGC).

Further, Kumar said that the initiatives started under his leadership have proven to be great findings for the nation.

All the Institutes proved to be iconic and offer the best education in their respective domains and they were a part of an act of outstanding vision. 

India should further continue to aspire for these kinds of higher educational standards for a better society.

"At IIT Bhubaneswar too, we are committed to promoting education of global standards which are fine tuned to be in sync with the fast changing technical scenarios," Kumar added.

In the National Education Day event, he called upon the IIT Bhubaneswar family to pay homage to the great leader. 

He requested to get inspiration from Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad's work and rededicate ourselves for the cause of Education to create new education leadership in the Nation. 

The National Education Day at IIT Bhubaneswar was celebrated as a simple function by following all social distancing parameters. 

The event at IIT Bhubaneswar was also attended by Prof. V R Pedireddi, Dean Student Affairs, Dr. P R Sahu, Dean Academy, Prof. Brahma Deo, and Mr. Devraj Rath.
