IIT Bhubaneswar Online Orientation to be Conducted on November 18 & 19; Check Details Here


IIT Bhubaneswar has declared that the online orientation of the new students will be conducted on November 18 and 19. The orientation will be conducted in a completely online manner in view of the prevailing conditions due to the pandemic.

Speaking on the matter, Mr RV Raja Kumar, the director of IIT Bhubaneswar said in a statement that the institute has decided to hold the classes for the first semester UG course after the orientation program. According to Mr Kumar, the orientation program itself was pushed to virtual mode due to the severe conditions due to the pandemic.

Since candidates from all over India apply for admissions to the Institute, the travel restrictions also added another layer of barrier in an already problem infested session. 

More than 475 new students took admission in IIT Bhubaneswar across its 9 dual degree programs and six BTech courses. Mr Kumar added another statement on this subject saying that seats have been increased by more than 18% across all IITs which led to the increase in the number of admissions from 419 to 475.

Meanwhile, the institute has also released the time table for the new session, and classes for the autumn semester of the newly admitted students will be started from November 19. A statement by the college said that students will be brought on campus and classes will be conducted in an offline manner only when the situation will become conducive.

In case the situation does improve further down the line, the institute will take no chances and proceed with caution as directed by the guidelines released by the state and UGC. 

Mr Raja Kumar in another statement declared that to avoid stress and maintain proper earring outcomes, classes will be conducted in full and no shortening of online classes will take place. This will provide the first-year students with a full college education experience and impart education as is the standard of the institute.

The newly admitted students will complete their first-year classes by mid-June and will continue with the online mode if the situation on the ground does not improve.
