IIT Delhi to Train More than 100 School Students in Robotics in Next Two Months

New Delhi: IIT Delhi's IHFC (I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics) is the Knowledge Partner of the newly-established Delhi Robotics League (DRL). IHFC will play a vital role in hand-holding and offering instruction on robot construction via boot camps to Delhi school kids (grades 9 and 10) engaging in the DRL.

IIT- Delhi’s IHFC is conducting the boot camps with assistance from its fostered firms, Rancho Labs and The Innovation Story. Around 800 students have profited thus far from the 26 boot camps held in the last couple of weeks. The goal of such boot camps is to inspire young people to put their talents to use and work in teams to create robots.

Such boot camps will prepare the schoolchildren for "Robo-Kancha" (which has been named after the well-known children's game "Kancha"), which will be played under the DRL 2023, a Delhi government program introduced in collaboration with IHFC.

They will teach them not just the fundamentals of robotics but also how to use robotic technology in everyday life. One can witness the lovely cohabitation of humans and robots working together to engage in the game "Kancha" in the Robo-Kancha game. During the first week of July, the DRL finals will be its conclusion.

Among the key draws of the competition is the Pre-SEED grant for student-owned enterprises, which is just one of the numerous exciting rewards available to students, including cash awards, mentorship from IHFC-IIT Delhi, and other prizes.

The IHFC Project Director Professor S. K. Saha said, "It's amazing to observe the overwhelming positive response from Delhi schools to the bootcamps and the interest students have shown in the league.”

He continued, “These youngsters are the ones who will lead us into the future, so we must channel their creativity toward developing ideas for, conceptualising, and building robots at this young age."

IHFC CEO Ashutosh Dutt Sharma expressed his excitement about the organisation's participation in this effort as the knowledge partner, and he added, "Activities like these should be held in schools because they expose young people to cutting-edge technology.”

He also said that educating the next generation in these abilities will help us mould India for a better future. I'm extremely happy to see how interested students are in these boot camps and how keen they are to take part in the DRL, especially among female students.

All Delhi Schools including schools from all boards (ICSE, CBSE, etc.) in Delhi are eligible to participate in the Delhi Robotics League (DRL)-2023. This league's free enrollment has already attracted 100 schools. The application cutoff date is January 26, 2023.
